GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN – November 6, 2023 . Polestar and South Korean battery manufacturer SK On have signed a contract to supply battery cell modules for the upcoming Polestar 5 four-door electric GT.
SK On was selected by Polestar for its superior battery cell technology, offering powerful chemistry, fast charging, efficient discharging and long range. The high nickel battery cell modules consist of ultra-long 56 centimeter cells with high energy density.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar: “Our relationship with SK On has proven fruitful after signing the Memorandum of Understanding and investing in our brand. The Polestar 5 is evolving rapidly and will be equipped with this high-performance battery to deliver the performance expected from our grand tourer.”

The Polestar 5, scheduled to start production in 2025, is the evolution of the Polestar Precept concept car and will be featured in the YouTube series ” From Concept to Car “, which describes his path to the production vehicle in detail.
